An Ecofeminist Reading of The Word for World is Forest

Detail from the cover of The Word for World is Forest

I was invited by José-Antonio Orosco, organiser of the The Word for World is Forest Symposium, to turn my paper from that event into a full article for The Acorn, a philosophy journal.

At his and The Acorn editor Greg Moses’ suggestion I developed my presentation to include more context around The Word for World is Forest in terms of where it fits in the timeline of Ursula Le Guin’s writing career (both her fiction and essays), and her environmentalism. I’m grateful for their patience and support in the rewriting process.

The full title of my paper is ‘Use Your “Mother Tongue” to Change the World: An Ecofeminist Reading of Le Guin’s The Word for World is Forest on the Occasion of its 50th Anniversary’. It is available online, but behind a paywall. If you are unable to access it, please reach out to me.
